The Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation (KRMEF, www.krmef.org ) is an NGO established in 2008 in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. Its aim is to create a healthy, sustainable environment that embodies eco-friendly practices for the well-being of local communities, with various works like natural building, biodynamic agricultural methods, early childhood education, medical services and community development. Krishna will suggest solutions based on his experience with the projects of his Eco Foundation and he will show how communities can cope with the challenges on a small scale.

Furthermore the speaker will explain how local resources can be used to build earthquake-resistant houses in a sustainable and inexpensive way, taking the reconstruction project in the remote villages of Ranibari, Salle and Kholegaon as an example. This project was initiated by Patrick Hagmann, the former president of Songtsen House.

Krishna Gurung has over 20 years of experience working with impoverished communities and is a leader in sustainable development projects in Nepal. After working as a physiotherapist in two hospitals in Kathmandu, he sought to focus his efforts on bringing not only health, but core wellness to the poorest communities; doing so by incorporating an anthroposophic and environmentally friendly perspective.
